I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT #48288) who provides individual and group psychotherapy in Oakland, CA. I am regulated by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, and have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. For over 15 years, I have been practicing the art and science of psychotherapy with people from all walks of life. As a Hispanic queer cisgender female, I specialize in providing holistic and trauma informed treatment to gender and sexual minorities and various other marginalized individuals. I am trained in EMDR, an evidence based treatment for trauma. My work integrates a social justice lens, is informed by my clients’ unique intersection of identities, and honors the mind-body-spirit connection. In addition to my clinical work, I offer unique LGBTQ+ ally trainings that empower allies to actively disrupt implicit bias and dismantle microaggressions in everyday encounters so that they can facilitate interpersonal healing and create more affirmative environments. I’m a member of CAMFT, Gaylesta (President), Bay Area Open Minds, and the Spiritual Emergence Network. I am passionate about empowering others to awaken to their unique potential, expand their capacity for empathy, and evolve their emotional intelligence. In addition to my private practice, I currently work at a hospital outpatient clinic where I provide various clinical services and training to interns.
I find joy in helping people transform personal obstacles and suffering into higher states of being. I have gone through this process myself, and have directly experienced profound transformation as a result. I believe that the best helping professionals are the ones who have gone through their own therapy and continue to consciously examine themselves throughout their lives. Therefore, my work is informed by both my ongoing professional training and regular engagement in self-development. This includes my dedication to psycho-spiritual growth through participation in personal healing work and spiritual practice.
I have engaged in a lifelong exploration into the nature of consciousness and human potential, and am passionate about the intersection of science and spirituality. In addition to my work as a mental health clinician, I also practice subtle energy healing as a Matrix Energetics Practitioner and Sound Healer. I have trained in Shamanism, Tantric Buddhism, Egyptian High Alchemy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi Gong, and various forms of meditation.
My clinical work is informed by modern research in Neuroscience which validates the power of mindfulness based techniques to rewire the brain and cultivate beneficial mental and emotional states. In addition, I apply research from Positive Psychology, which explores the positive virtues and strengths that support optimal thriving and meaningful fulfillment in life.
As a dancer and former collegiate athlete, I have profound appreciation for the mind-body connection, and have found that incorporating a Somatic approach in my work is essential to accessing unconscious material and facilitating embodied growth.
